FAQs

Why 8 weeks?

Personal development takes time. Just as you wouldn’t stop the downloading process halfway through updating your phone or getting a new app, you wouldn’t want to cut short the time it takes to update your mind and develop new skills and habits that will change your life.

Why rush yourself when learning to how to stop constant rushing? The MBSR course is about learning how to take better care of yourself. Start by giving yourself the time that Jon Kabat-Zinn, the originator of this course, found to be necessary to help people help themselves.

While a short course, an app, or a workshop may provide you with a first taste of mindfulness, you are unlikely to get from them the support you need when you’re trying to develop your own mindfulness practice, but it is through your own solid practice of mindfulness that you will get the results you’re hoping for – positive changes that have been experienced by participants of the MBSR course since its inception over 40 years ago.

What if I miss a class?

If you miss one of the sessions, you can use the detailed course book to read up on what issues were covered during the class, and if you have questions regarding your home practice that week you can contact me.

What if I miss the Day of Mindfulness?

If you can’t make it to the all-day session, you can make up for it by attending a Day of Mindfulness in a later term.
